Working with OpenTag

Commitments and follow-ups

Find outstanding promises and unanswered conversations, then mark done, dismiss or snooze.

Ask what is outstanding

OpenTag can track promises and unanswered conversations from accessible Slack messages, email and connected meeting records.

Try a question in your DM:

  • “Who is waiting on me?”
  • “What did I promise Northwind?”
  • “What am I waiting for from other people?”

Ask for sources and due dates. A useful answer links the original message and identifies who owes what to whom.

Replies and commitments differ

Replying to an email can close the need for a response without fulfilling the work you promised. “I'll send the proposal Friday” stays outstanding until there is evidence that the proposal was sent or the commitment was cancelled.

Where a commitment links to a supported task, such as a Linear issue, OpenTag can check the current task status. If it cannot access that task, its status remains unverified.

Mark done, dismiss or snooze

Tell OpenTag which item you mean and what changed:

Mark the Northwind proposal as done; I sent it this morning.

Snooze my reminder about the renewal until Monday.

Done records completion. Dismiss and snooze change your own view; they do not silently clear another participant's list. You need to be a participant in the item and still have access to its source.

Check coverage

New or large sources can take time to process. An incomplete, stale or unavailable source means OpenTag cannot promise that the list contains everything. Ask it to state what it checked and what is still processing.

Access follows the source and the conversation audience. A shared-channel request does not open your private inbox to the room. Use a personal DM for your own cross-source follow-ups.
