How connections work

Choose private or team access, document-sharing rules and read/write permissions for each account.

Choose who can use a connection

A connection belongs to the person who authorised it. Its sharing settings decide whether OpenTag can also use it for teammates. Open Integrations to review each account's access.

For integrations with an Access control, Private keeps the connection for you. Team lets your OpenTag workspace use that account within the permissions you granted. Sharing does not give teammates the credential itself.

Team access is a grant

Sharing a whole connection can give teammates access to information they could not open through their own account in the source app. Review the connected account and its permissions before choosing Team.

Personal and shared documents

Google Drive, Google Sheets and OneDrive offer separate choices:

ContentChoicesDefault
Personal contentOnly you or TeamOnly you
Shared contentPeople with existing access, Team or Only youPeople with existing access

People with existing access checks the requesting teammate's access in the source app. If OpenTag cannot verify that access, it withholds the file. Some group or link-based permissions cannot be verified; connecting your own account can resolve those cases.

Team explicitly grants your OpenTag team the selected category. It does not change sharing in Google or Microsoft. Personal files and shared files remain separate choices.

Granola also separates personal and shared content. Shared content means notes visible to everyone in the connected Granola workspace; it defaults to Team. Personal content defaults to Only you.

Other document integrations, including Notion, Confluence, Circleback and Sybill, use the whole-connection Private / Team control.

Choose what OpenTag can do

Sharing and tool permissions are separate. Read only limits operations; Read and write permits the available changes. Neither choice widens what the source account itself can access.

Some integrations are always read-only. Others offer a choice when you connect. The connection dialog shows the options for that integration. See Approvals for actions that require a separate decision.

Several accounts

You can connect several accounts to the same integration. They appear under their own names. Say which account or organisation to use when a request could apply to more than one.

Google services can be managed separately for each Google account. Connecting Gmail does not mean sharing your inbox with the team.

Disconnecting

Open the account in Integrations and disconnect it, or revoke OpenTag in the source app. Jobs depending on that connection may need another account or a reconnect.

Disconnecting ends access to the source. For removal of retained information, see Deleting your data.
