Installing for your workspace

Review installation, initial channels, automatic joining and workspace administration.

Before installation

You need permission to add apps to your Slack workspace. If Slack requires an administrator's approval, complete that approval before setup can finish.

Start at app.tryopentag.com and sign in with Slack. Choose the intended workspace, review the requested permissions, and complete the setup shown for that workspace.

What setup changes

Setup connects the workspace, lets you choose initial channels and a plan, and brings OpenTag into Slack. Read the checkout terms before confirming a subscription trial. Plans explains the difference between a free credit grant and a trial on a paid plan.

Once setup is complete, newly created internal public channels are joined automatically by default. Review automatic joining and exclusions in Slack settings before a wider rollout.

What OpenTag can reach

SourceAccess
Joined channelsAvailable messages, threads and files, including earlier history
Private channelsRequires an invitation; use of their context is restricted by the conversation
Slack Connect channelsRequires an invitation; answers in the room have restricted company context
DMs between other peopleNot available through the bot installation
Connected appsGoverned by the account's sharing settings and tool permissions

See Channels and access and How connections work for the boundaries.

Roll out with a real job

Choose a working channel, ask OpenTag for a small piece of work, and check its sources. Review the wiki and connection settings before extending access to more channels and apps.

Teammates in an already configured workspace can start using OpenTag without repeating workspace setup. They may need to sign in or connect an account for work that requires their personal access.

Admin controls

Admins manage Slack reply permissions, automatic joining and billing. Routine ownership and integration sharing have their own controls. Being an admin does not turn every personal connection or private conversation into shared data.

For a security review, start with Trust model. To uninstall, see Removing OpenTag.
