Managing routines
Edit schedules, manage Read and Edit access, handle held actions and recover a departed owner’s routine.
Find and change a routine
Open Routines in app.tryopentag.com, select the routine, and review its instructions, schedule, destination and history. You can also ask in Slack: “Move the pipeline report to Tuesdays at 10:00 Europe/London.”
Say whether a correction is for this result or every future run. To make it recur, ask OpenTag to update the routine's instructions.
Read, Edit and owner access
| Access | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Read | View the definition and basic run history |
| Edit | Change instructions, schedule, skills and delivery; pause or run it |
| Owner | All of the above, plus sharing, execution authorisation and deletion |
The owner can grant Read or Edit to a named teammate or Slack channel. Channel access follows the current channel membership. A separate named grant can still apply after someone leaves the channel.
A routine created in a channel initially gives that channel Read access. A routine created privately stays private unless shared, even when its output goes to a channel.
Editing can direct work through the owner's connections
Giving Edit access does not hand over credentials, but it lets someone change work that uses the owner's authorised apps. Review editors and instructions together. Shared history does not expose the owner's private transcripts or provider error details.
If you cannot edit
Ask the owner for Edit access or for the specific change. OpenTag can offer to bring the owner into the thread; it waits for agreement before mentioning them. An owner's reply can authorise the stated change and sharing request.
Pause, resume or delete
Owners and editors can pause a routine while keeping its definition. Resume it when the work is needed again. Only the owner can delete it or change sharing.
Moving the delivery channel does not change ownership or grant the new channel permission to edit.
When the owner leaves
An admin can recover a routine whose owner has left the workspace. Open its sharing controls and choose Make me the owner. Recovery pauses execution and keeps the instructions and sharing for review.
The new owner must authorise their own connected apps and resume the routine. Recovery does not grant access to the former owner's private run details. An active owner's routine cannot be taken over this way.
Held actions and failures
Routines can post Slack results automatically. Email sends, phone calls and calendar writes that invite attendees can be held while the routine finishes its other work. The report identifies held actions and the owner can receive a DM to handle them interactively.
For failures, inspect the routine's status and accessible history. Check the owner's connections, workspace credits and destination reply permissions. A blocked destination may prevent even an error notice from reaching the channel.
