What's new in OpenTag

When someone creates a public channel, OpenTag joins quietly so it is ready when mentioned. Invite it by hand and it still says hello.

Files up to 20 MB now move between OpenTag, Slack, and Google, and email attachments come back as real attachments you can open.

New workspaces now start with a short Slack-first setup for channels and tools, then land directly in a conversation with OpenTag. There is less to configure before your team can ask for useful work.

Every new workspace gets a free starting balance, and paid plans are organized around clear monthly credits. You can review usage and choose a plan as your team’s needs grow.

Gini is now OpenTag across the product, giving your team one consistent name in Slack and the app. OpenTag is easier to find, invite, and share with the people you work with.

Integrations are now cards that show which account is connected, one plain status line, and who can use the connection. Statuses say honestly what needs attention, and any teammate can reconnect a team connection, not only the person who set it up.

Ask about the action-item list OpenTag posted this morning and it finds and reads its own messages in the channel, instead of asking where they are.

Slack controls now have a dedicated home, and reports with tables arrive in a readable layout instead of a wall of pipes. It is easier to decide where OpenTag speaks and scan the answers it sends.

When a scheduled routine wants to send an email, post a document, create a calendar invite, or make a call, it now holds the action and asks its owner in a DM first.

Add OpenTag to a channel and it introduces itself with a short summary of what it has caught up on. In a channel with nothing in it yet, it stays quiet.

Set each channel to eager, judged, or mention-only. In judged channels OpenTag weighs whether an unmentioned reply in a thread it started needs an answer, and it can react with an emoji instead of a message.

In a direct message you can ask about a private channel you belong to. OpenTag confirms your membership with Slack first, then answers, including files and app messages posted there.

Ask about email or your calendar without naming an account and OpenTag checks every Google account you have connected, scoped to you.

Connect PostHog to bring product usage and analytics context into OpenTag conversations.

Skills now appear in the workspace navigation, with personal, team, and built-in skills side by side. OpenTag can also write and install a skill for a workflow you describe.

The Usage page is back and reports what your workspace has used in credits, with the plan’s monthly allowance shown alongside so you can see where you stand.

OpenTag can now search the live web and bring back useful pages for follow-up, so a question does not stop at the context already in your workspace.

A “Working on it…” status now appears under OpenTag’s name within about a second of your message and stays until the answer lands. The eyes reaction is retired.

Ask for recurring work in plain English and OpenTag sets up the routine, with no template to pick. The routines list shows the instructions each one runs and anyone on the team can edit them. Routines can also start from an event, such as a webhook from another tool, instead of only on a schedule.

Admins can limit the integrations a workspace is allowed to connect. Anything outside the list is unavailable to the whole team rather than left to individual choice.

Every conversation gets its own browser at a stable link. OpenTag can browse and act on sites that have no integration, and when a site asks you to sign in it hands the browser over, then picks the task back up.

OpenTag can read, write, append to, clear, and reorganize Google Sheets, and create a new spreadsheet when you ask. Sheets tasks inside routines no longer fall back to the browser.

Ask OpenTag to repeat work and have each run post where your team will see it. Routines can now run in public Slack channels, with a schedule and destination you can adjust.

OpenTag now stops to ask only before actions that cannot be undone or that only you can decide. Approved actions no longer restart the request, and routines no longer stall waiting for an answer nobody will give.

Ask for a document and OpenTag uploads it into the thread or into a channel you name. Charts it draws arrive as images you can open, not as broken attachments.

Connect Attio to look up and update the people, companies, and deals in your CRM from Slack. Choose read-only or read and write when you connect.

Ask about a decision, a thread, or what happened last week and OpenTag searches across the channels it has joined to answer, instead of seeing only the message that mentioned it. Narrow to a channel or a time window when you want to.

Installing OpenTag creates a shared channel where it welcomes the team and posts integration notices, so there is one obvious place to find it.

OpenTag now refers to people and channels by name instead of raw Slack identifiers. Links in its messages open in the right workspace and no longer trigger preview cards.

When an integration stops working, OpenTag messages the person who connected it, says what needs reconnecting, and links straight to the fix.

Google is no longer one all-or-nothing connection. Connect Gmail, Calendar, and Drive on their own, add more than one Google account with a name for each, and share or disconnect a single service without touching the rest.

Drop an image, PDF, text file, or audio clip into the conversation and OpenTag can read it and work from it. Long PDFs are read as text, so questions about a document get real answers.

Pull OpenTag into a thread and it reads what came before the mention, so you do not have to recap. A bare @OpenTag reply in a thread now gets an answer, and it stays quiet on channel messages that were not addressed to it.

Add a detail or change your mind while OpenTag is still working and it folds your message into the task instead of starting over. Say stop and it stops, and a Stop control is there whenever a request is running.

You can now see where OpenTag is active in Slack and add it to the channels your team wants to use. Keep the conversation close to the work without changing how your team already organizes itself.
